Jinming Machinery Launches Dedicated Vertical Injection Molding Machine For FEP, Equipped With Hastelloy Screw To Solve Fluoroplastics Processing Challenges

Recently, Jinming Machinery launched a customized vertical injection molding machine to address the processing pain points of high-end fluoroplastics such as FEP (perfluoroethylene propylene, commonly known as F46). Equipped with a standard Hastelloy C276 screw, it perfectly adapts to the high-temperature and highly corrosive processing requirements of FEP, helping customers stably produce high-end products such as high-frequency cables, medical catheters, photovoltaic films, and chemical corrosion-resistant components.

 

FEP, as a high-performance fluoroplastic, possesses advantages such as transparency, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance (long-term 200℃), low dielectric constant, and non-stick properties. It is widely used in 5G base station high-frequency lines, aerospace cables, medical sterile catheters, solar photovoltaic encapsulation films, chemical corrosion-resistant pipes, and high-purity fluid transport components. However, its processing temperature reaches 300–380℃, and trace decomposition produces hydrogen fluoride (HF), which causes severe corrosion to ordinary nitrided steel screws (such as 38CrMoAl). Within weeks, pitting and carbon buildup appear on the equipment, leading to problems such as product impurities, glue breakage, and degradation, a long-standing problem plaguing industry production.

 

Jinming Machinery has been deeply involved in the R&D and manufacturing of vertical injection molding machines for many years. Addressing the core pain points of FEP processing, they have customized a dedicated solution: the core components use a Hastelloy C276 screw and barrel. Leveraging the HF corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and pitting resistance of the nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy, it maintains high torque and stability even at 400℃, completely solving the problems of easy corrosion and short lifespan of ordinary screws. Simultaneously, the screw adopts a low-shear, shallow-groove, and reasonable compression ratio (2.8–3.6) design, precisely controlling the temperature window (±10℃) to avoid FEP overheating and degradation, ensuring uniform and stable melt, and making it suitable for precision injection molding and extrusion scenarios.

 

"The core of FEP processing is corrosion resistance, temperature control, and melt stabilization. Ordinary screws simply cannot withstand HF corrosion; Hastelloy is the only reliable choice in the industry," said the technical head of Jinming Machinery. He explained that this customized machine features comprehensive optimization from materials and structure to the temperature control system. The Hastelloy screw has a lifespan of 2-3 years, more than 10 times that of ordinary nitrided steel, significantly reducing downtime and scrap losses, resulting in a significantly improved overall cost-effectiveness.

 

Leveraging its technological accumulation in the field of special injection molding equipment, Jinming Machinery has achieved mass customization of its dedicated FEP vertical injection molding machine. It can meet diverse needs such as clamping force of 15-650 tons and injection volume of 35-8000 grams, suitable for FEP product production in multiple industries including electronics, medical, photovoltaic, and chemical.
